I woke early this morning to the sound of Jared's alarm. Well rested after nearly nine hours of sleep. Morning hugs, a warm shower, kisses goodbye. The smell of coffee brewing as I moved around our house opening windows, letting the light in.
I'm home from France.
Emerson woke up early today too. 6:30. Normally, I would be wishing for a few more quiet minutes before starting our day together. But not today. Today the sound of her sweet voice was music. The sight of her sitting up in her crib, smiling when she saw it was me, well that was magic. Feeling the weight of her body against mine when I lifted her from her crib. Holding her- warm and sleepy- a little longer than usual. This is what dreams are made of.
I'm home and I'm deeply aware of my surroundings. The feel of hardwood and tile underfoot. The way the sun spills light onto our front lawn in the morning, casting shadows into our living room. Little marks on walls near doors and windows where curious hands have been- opening, closing, reaching. Emerson has shown me all of her new toys. Her new tent, her kitchen set, and best of all the playhouse her daddy has been building. He's moved it to the backyard. It's almost done now. Together, Moncu, Emerson and I went to the farmer's market. We tasted fresh fruits, salsas, breads and hummus. We saw a hummingbird on a Mexican Sage plant that was for sale and bought it right away. Along with a Salvia plant. I can't wait to plant them. Long talks with Jared's mom during Emerson's nap. And more hugs and kisses when Jared got home from work. We spent the evening outside. Moncu and I chasing Emerson around, keeping her safe and entertained as Jared worked more on the playhouse. After dinner we sat outside, talking and watching Emerson play until the sun had completely set, allowing night's charm to replace the day.
I'm home from France. Refreshed and so thankful for this wonderful life.
Welcome Home!!!!! It seemed like you were away for a long time. Even though we're still quite a distance from each other, you seem so much closer. Glad you had such a nice time, glad your home safely, glad you get to wake up to wonderful hugs and kisses.
