The Bump

Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, I became so excited about the idea of having a bump. One of the best parts of this pregnancy, is watching my body change and grow. I look in the mirror every chance I get to see how my belly has grown. Some nights, I sit on the couch and just stare at my tummy, amazed by the life inside. When I reached 18 weeks in my pregnancy, my belly was still fairly small. It certainly wasn’t obvious to others that I was pregnant and I was ready for the world to know that I was! It sounds silly, but I was a little disappointed.

Looking back, I know how silly I was being. This is not the time to rush things. I’m glad that our little bird has taken her time. Take your time, sweet baby girl. You are more than worth the wait.

Now, at 24 weeks, I definitely have a bump and I'm having so much fun exploring my wardrobe and putting together cute pregnancy outfits. I was out shoe shopping with my Aunt Faith the other day and I received my first, “You look so cute. How far along are you?” Some women may find that question a bit too personal, but I was beaming.

Usually, I take my own pictures. Jared took these and as you can see I handled it like a child.

These days, all I can think about is our little one. Right now, she seems like a distant daydream, or a wish. But soon, she'll be in my arms. Until then, all I really want to do is nest. I want to get her nursery ready. Fill it with books and pictures and trinkets. I want to cozy up on the couch with Jared and enjoy our last few months as just us.  I want to write our little dove letters, telling her how much we love her and the things I want to teach her. All I really want to do is be in every moment of this pregnancy. To treasure and cherish each and every moment of this incredible time.

Winter Interlude & A Shower

My mom had a beautiful shower for our little bean two weekends ago at my parent's home in Tennessee. Jared and I were greeted with cold temperatures and a silvery sky. I'm thankful not to have to endure a long winter season this year, but a winter interlude suited me just fine.

Walking into my parent's house always makes me feel comforted. Any amount of time spent there renews my spirit and calms me. My mom had the house looking so nice. Sweet shower decorations were carefully placed all over, with pictures of Jared and me when we were babies strung all over the living room. Love was all around. I am so thankful for my family-the love they have given me all my life. And the thought that they love so dearly the little baby growing inside of me -well I just feel such gratitude. The shower was beautiful. My family and parent's friends are so excited for me and Jared and they can't wait to meet our little dove. It was a wonderful day.

When the shower was over I gathered all of the gifts our baby had been given-the softest onesies, socks and blankets. Tiny toys, bibs, and diapers. I laid them all out to look at. Touching those soft clothes and blankets to my face and marveling at the miracle of our little one, feeling so thankful for the life I've been given.

We can't wait to meet you little one. Grow healthy and strong. We are so in love with you!
